A day-long "Bangladesh Trade and Investment Summit-2016" will be held on December 5 at the Royale Chulan Kualal Lumpur in Malaysia, reports BSS.
"With the theme 'Sustainable Business-the Road to Progress' the summit will explore key trade and investment opportunities that exist for Bangladesh in particular from Malaysian counterpart", Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) President M Alamgir Jalil told journalists at a press conference at National Press club here yesterday.

Authority (BIDA) is organising the summit which will be supported by Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA), Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), Public Private Partnership Authority Bangladesh, Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), High Commission of Malaysia in Bangladesh and so on.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed is expected to attend the summit as the chief guest while State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam will present as the special guest.
Among others, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI) YB Datuk Chua Tee Yong will also attend as the guest of honour in the summit.
M Alamgir Jalil said this will be the most innovative and challenging summit on important national issues of Bangladesh in respect of "Trade and Investment" promotion.
"The summit will also focus on trade and investment practices, opportunities and challenges of major stakeholders-both private and public," he added.
He also said a total of 70-member delegation from Bangladesh will attend the summit while about 200 representatives of major business houses, interested investors and government bodies of Malaysia will take part in the summit. Among others, BMCCI former president Syed Moazzam Hossain and Secretary General Shabbir Ahmed Khan were present at the press conference.
Mentioning Bangladesh as an attractive investment hub not only in the South Asian region but also in the whole Asia, Moazzam Hossain said representatives from government bodies, banks, research organizations and business community of Bangladesh will attend the summit to uphold the countries investment scenario to the Malaysian investors.
