RU VC, pro-VC sued

A case has been filed with a Rajshahi court on Thursday against Rajshahi University vice-chancellor Mizanuddi, pro-VC Chawdhury Sarawar Jahan, registrar Entazul Haque and the recruitment committee of grade-IVstaff, for their alleged involvement in irregularities over three posts.

The Rajshahi District Senior Assistant Judge Court has served a show cause notice asking RU authorities to explain within seven days why they should not stop the recruitment process for grade-IV staff. The case was jointly filed by Sohel Rana, Saidur Rahman and Towhidul Islam, applicants of grade-IV posts of the university and also the residents of Rajshahi district.  
In the complained, they mentioned that through two advertisements published on September 24 and October 10 respectively, RU wanted some 44 staff for grade-IV posts, including bus driver, cleaner and lower class assistant. Three plaintiffs applied for the posts and the written test was held on November 24 but they did not get any interview card. Even the authority did not disclose list of disqualified candidates. RU treasurer Prof Dr Sayen Uddin said, “We got the notice from the court yesterday morning. We will take decision about the matter after meeting with RU vice-chancellor and top concerns of the university.
