Recently it has become a very common phenomenon in the context of modern world that people are being motivated to act like just programmable robots. In most of the cases, they are static in nature although they are travelling through a specific circle. They just follow the rigorous routine oriented life from beginning to end. But it must have to be extended for the better prospect of life. Another concerning issue is that most of them are self-oriented and conservative in their beliefs and mentality. It needs to be changed and “mental revolution” of F. W. Taylor can be applied differently.
However, there are some universal queries: what makes people work? Why some people contribute more as compared to others? The thing working behind this is the invisible power or strength. The people may be astonished to think that what is regarded as “invisible power”. The man who suggested the concept of invisible power may be mad or it may be a fictional story. The golden moon is above the sky. The different poets and novelists were asked to describe the beauty of moon from their different perceptions and views. Anton Chekhov mentioned that “Don't tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass.” Carl Sandburg explained “The moon is friend for the lonesome to talk to.” Robert Frost realized the moon in the way of “We ran as if to meet the moon.” Galileo defined moon as “It is a beautiful and delightful sight to behold the body of the Moon.” Debasish Mridha expressed “The moon is the reflection of your heart and moonlight is the twinkle of your love.” In the opinion of Alexandra Olivia “I think I can hear the unseen moon”.
As general persons, they have lot of eagerness about the moon. They can be excited to touch the moon from their heart. But it is not possible for them. It can be identified as a dream which is originated from emotion of a person. But the goal is completely different from dream. At 10:56 p.m. EDT, July 1969, American astronaut Neil Armstrong, 240,000 miles from Earth, speaks these words to more than a billion people listening at home: “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” He then planted his left foot on the gray, powdery surface, took a cautious step forward, and humanity had walked on the moon. Stepping off the lunar landing module Eagle, Armstrong became the first human to walk on the surface of the moon. The American effort to send astronauts to the moon has its origins in a famous appeal President John F. Kennedy made to a special joint session of Congress on May 25, 1961: “I believe this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to Earth.” This is the example of selection of goal and the successful achievement of the targeted aim. At the time of 1961 or earlier it was the goal how to reach the moon. In that period it was the direction of vision. Whenever the goal is the direction of vision and the goal can be achieved only by taking real strategies. In that case, the real strategies were taken to make such a high speed vehicle or systems so that the person can research the moon. In this context, the emotion is the dream but goal is the commitment and implementation of real activity in the form of direction of vision. The selection of goal to reach the moon was visible to everyone but invisible was the strategies or actions to reach the moon. And these invisible multi-oriented motions were the real power or strength. Neil Alden Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin Eugene "Buzz" Aldrin Jr. were uncertain about their life during taking the challenges to reach the moon. The risks were otherworldly. If the engine, designed to launch the men, failed, they would crash. If the engine, designed to lift them out of the moon's orbit, failed, they would be forever lost in space. If the engine, designed to return them to Earth, failed, they would burn to death. There were solar and cosmic radiation to worry about, micrometeorites, lunar gravitational fields and whatever surprises the mysterious vacuum that is space might contain. In January 1967, three U.S. astronauts perished in a fire while trapped in their command module during an on-ground launch simulation. Three months later, Russian cosmonaut Vladimir M. Komarov plunged to his death during reentry after his parachute lines tangled. Neil Alden Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin Eugene "Buzz" Aldrin Jr. were informed earlier about these undesirable incidents, although they had taken the challenges to walk first on the surface of the moon.
There has been an invisible strength or power and this was the motivation. The invisible term “Motivation” has been observed from different point of views (1) motivation is goal directed (Lawler, 1994), (2) motivation outlines the achievement and pursuit of goals (Denhardt et al., 2008) and (3) motivation is environmentally dependent (Pettinger, 1996). Campbell and Pritchard (1976) define motivation as being the set of psychological processes that cause the initiation, direction, intensity, and persistence of behavior. But motivation is the powerful weapon for the creative leaders if they would apply their invisible influences and controlling power on their followers constructively. Che Guevara, Alexander, The Great, Asoka, Winston Churchill, Julius Caesar, Napoleon Bonaparte, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman are the greatest leaders of all the times.
According to Warren Bennis “Leadership is a function of knowing yourself, having a vision that is well communicated, building trust among colleagues, and taking effective action to realize your own leadership potential.” The perception of Peter Drucker is as “Leadership is the lifting of a man’s vision to higher sights, the raising of a man’s performance to a higher standard, the building of a man’s personality beyond its normal limitations.” As reported by Northouse “Leadership is a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal.” Zaleznik thought “Leadership inevitably requires using power to influence the thoughts and actions of other people.” Charles Handy said "A leader shapes and shares a vision which gives point to the work of others." John Maxwell noted that "Leadership is influence - nothing more, nothing less." From these assessments, it can be understood that leadership is also an invisible power.
The theme of the short story entitled "How Much Land Does a Man Require?" written by Leo Tolstoy in the year 1886 was a man who, in his lust for land, forfeits everything. At the last part of this story, some tragedy words were “He stays out as late as possible, marking out land until just before the sun sets. Toward the end, he realizes he is far from the starting point and runs back as fast as he can to the waiting Bashkirs. He finally arrives at the starting point just as the sun sets. The Bashkirs cheer his good fortune, but exhausted from the run, Pahom drops dead. His servant buries him in an ordinary grave only six feet long, thus ironically answering the question posed in the title of the story.” This is the philosophy of life. The philosophy of the life, in fact the self realization and the essence of the philosophy, is completely invisible in nature.
The direction of vision, motivation, leadership and the philosophy everything are seen as the spur behind one’s success. But they are the magical power and strength to change the world for the betterment of the people as a whole. If these invisible elements can be applied positively, the real development of man, society, country and the world can be made true.
