Rally at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) continued for the second consecutive day, driven mainly by pharmaceutical sector with support from multinational companies (MNCs), reports BSS.
Like previous session, pharmaceutical stocks captured the highest Tk 101 crore turnover, which was 22.0 per cent of the day’s total transaction of Tk 494.52 crore. Market also saw the higher activities around MNCs, increasing the daily transaction and the number of gaining securities.
The daily trade value was 1.87 per cent up at Tk 494.52 crore when the volume rose by 5.14 per cent to 13.01 crore shares.
The market, however, saw 163 issues closed higher despite the moderate increase in participation. It happened because most of the gaining issues were from low-cap group when 118 scrips retracted by moderate to high level.
Telecom was the day’s most yielding sector, with ensuring 1.6 per cent return for investors. The other major advancing sectors were pharmaceuticals, textile and banking. The top five advancing securities were Aramit Cement, BSC, Standard Insurance, FBFIF and ICBEPMF1S1. After robust performance at the previous session, NBFIs and cement became the session’s major losing sectors on profit-booking selling. The major losing issues were Standard Ceramic, OAL, Hakkani Pulp, GQ Ball Pen and Apex Foods.
GP topped the turnover list followed by Beximco Pharma, Beximco, ACI, Ifad Autos, United Air and Apollo Ispat.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also maintained the rally with over 50 points rise in its general index. The CSCX closed the session at 8597.50 when 128 issues advanced, 77 declined and 46 remained unchanged.
A total of 13.83 lakh shares worth Tk 41.05 crore changed hands on the day.
