Jayed tries to deliver dot ball instead of taking wickets

Sports Reporter

Dhaka Dynamites strongly bounced back in the competition race after winning their back-to-back matches in the third phase of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 tournament.

The star-studded team thrashed defending champions by 32 runs in their opening match of the third phase and then trampled Barisal Bulls by four wickets.
Dynamites pacer Abu Jayed Rahi said that they will try to maintain their combined efforts that they gained from their previous outings to go into the next important matches.
“We have been united more as a team. Now we are trying to continue this effort to go into the next phase of the BPL,” said Abu Jayed Rahi, who played so far three matches for the star-packed Dynamites.
Dhaka no went to top in the first phase but they could not keep its continuation in Chittagong following their shocking defeat in two successive matches. They once again regained the top spot on the back of two victories in a row.
Rahi in this regard said that they have turned to be balanced after filling the deficit what they lost in their second phase in Chittagong.
“We lost last two back-to-back matches in Chittagong. After winning two matches on the trot, it has been balanced. Now we are top on the points table,” the 23-year-old pacer said.
When asked about the contribution behind their team success, he said that their batsmen are a bit ahead of their bowlers.
“We have played the bulk of the matches with eight or nine batsmen. If I have been asked I will tell about our batsmen,” the right-handed paceman told.
Abu Jayed who showcased his best bowling figures in BPL with 4-1-12-1, said that he tried to do dot balls as much as possible not to focus on taking wickets.
“Coach told me that single run in T20 is equivalent to dot ball. I have tried to do bowl dot ball as much as possible not to focus on taking wicket or wickets. I was in my plan and became successful,” he said.
“Wicket I think was a bit tough, where cutter was doing well. It was tough for pace bowling but easier for spin bowling,” he also said.
On the other hand, Barisal Bulls batsman Dawid Malan said that they have to fire as a team in the next three matches, which are crucial for them to win their last three games to go into the next phase.
“We have to win the next three games. The next game is very much final for them. We got confident squad. We are just not playing together, well enough together as a team,” said Dawid Malan.
“But we can’t maintain our consistency because we do bowling well in a day but other day we do batting well. So, I think as a team we have to improve in the next three games. We have to cooking together as one as batting and bowling unit,” English-born cricketer told at post-match briefing yesterday.
