After showing strong bullish trend last week, stock market opened this week yesterday mixed, with major indices finishing flat and daily transactions declining on cautious buying, reports BSS.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the opening session 4.75 points down at 4786.57 when the blue-chip DS30 followed it to finish flat at 1768.49.
The Shariah DSES was marginally up at 1134.68.
The daily trade value fell to Tk 610 crore from Thursday’s Tk 658.42 crore and the volume declined to 23.88 crore shares from 29.54 crore shares of the week’s closing session.
Majority of the issues traded ended in red on selling pressure from the investors who were offloading their shares to book profit.
Out of the day’s 320 issues, 128 closed higher against 152 losing securities.
The day’s major gainers were Fortune, DSSL, Confidence Cement, Fu Wang Ceramic and Asia Pacific Insurance.
The most losing securities included Emerald Oil, Family Tex, Tunghai, Gen Next and RSRM Steel.
Doreen Power topped the turnover list followed by BBS, Quasem Drycell, AB Bank and Beximco.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also began the week downward with its major CASPI index closing flat in red at 14723.43.
Out of the 245 issues traded on CSE, 115 closed lower against 101 advancing securities when 1.87 crore shares changed hands for Tk 40.74 crore.
