City restaurant catches fire
A fire broke out at a restaurant in the capital’s Bashundhara Gate area on Sunday morning.
An official at the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) control room said the fire originated at about 11.20am at ‘Raj Bilas London Park’ restaurant in the area. On information, firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the flame at about 11.32am. The reason of the fire could not be known yet.

Police arrest 36 with drugs 
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), in separate anti-illegal drugs drives in different areas, arrested 36 people with different contraband items including yaba tablets and heroin in last 24 hours, said a DMP press release yesterday morning.
"As many as 362 pieces of yaba tablets, 229 grams of heroin, 2.27 kgs of cannabis (ganja), 1402 bottles of phensidyl and 10 liters of local wine were seized from their possessions," the release added.

Race competition held  
A race competition was held in the capital yesterday marking the World Toilet Day, says a press release.     
The competition was organised in front of Nagar Bhaban in the capital and ended at the gate of Osmani Udyan. 50 competitors participated in the programme, jointly organised by URBAN, Concerned for Family Development, DSK and Sazeda Foundation. Khan Mohammad Bilal, CEO of Dhaka South City Corporation was present in the event as the chief guest, while Liaquat Ali, programme and policy advocacy of WaterAid Bangladesh, as the special guest. 

Trauma centre launched in capital
Care Medical College Hospital has launched ‘Care Trauma Centre’ to provide better medical services with latest technology and experienced doctors.
Professor Parven Fatem, managing director of Care Medical College Hospital officially inaugurated the centre in the capital yesterday.  “Care Truman Centre will provide 24 hours better treatment services to the people,” said Professor Parven Fatem. The aim of establishing the centre is providing a quality treatment to all with an affordable cost, said Parven. The centre also will give focus of poor people as they are deprived of better treatment, she added.
