Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Economic Relations Division (ERD) singed a Record of Discussion (RD) at the ERD Conference Room yesterday in order to establish digital and modernised narcotics control department, says a press release.
The title of the project is ‘I DREAM It’ (Illicit Drug Eradication and Advanced Management through IT). Joe Hyun-Gue, country director of KOICA Bangladesh Office, Abul Mansur Md Faizullah, additional secretary of ERD and Akhteruzzaman Md Mostafa Kamal, joint secretary of Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
Under this agreement, KOICA, the Korean Government’s assistance granting agency, has confirmed USD four million in grant assistance, supporting the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) in establishing a digital Management Information System (MIS) at DNC Tejgaon office and receive modern narcotics identifier to reduce the crime. Besides software and equipment support, DNC will also get consultation service on narcotic-related laws and reengineering of business processes; and DNC officials will receive training in Korea on modern narcotics tracing technology to enhance capacity development.
