A Dhaka court yesterday framed charges against Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) chief Mufti Jasimuddin Rahmani and nine others in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Mohammad Qamrul Hossain Mollah framed charges against them and also fixed January 4 to start the trial in the case.
The other accused are Saiful Islam alias Prince, Abu Hanif, Ali Azad, Md Jahidur Rahman, Kazi Dewan, Naimul Hasan, MD Junnun, Aminul Islam and Abdullah Al Asadullah alias Piyas.
Among the accused, Mufti Jasimuddin Rahmani, Saiful Islam alias Babu and Abu Hanif are now in jail, Ali Ahad secured bail while the others remained fugitive.
Earlier on November 8, the court issued an arrest warrant against the fugitives after taking the charge-sheet into cognisance.
On August 24, 2013, Detective Branch (DB) police inspector Nibaran Chandra Barman filed a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Mohammadpur police station in the city.
On September 8, 2014, another Decetive Branch (DB) police inspector Abdul Latif submitted charge sheet against 10 Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) men, including Jasimuddin Rahmani, reports UNB.
