Speakers at ‘UNB Advanced Journalism Workshop’ here stressed the importance of harmonious integration between mobile journalism and the digital space, reports UNB.
The two-day workshop that began on Saturday was attended by 35 UNB journalists, including 20 selected district correspondents, and got better understanding about mobile journalism to improve their professional skills.
They also gained hands-on experience with the latest storytelling techniques for creating a wide range of multimedia content with Smartphone.
UNB Chairman Amanullah Khan inaugurated the programme at its conference room. UNB Director Nahar Khan, UNB Chief News Editor Mahfuzur Rahman and UNB Digital Editor Maria Salam also spoke on the occasion.
Speaking at the programme, Amanullah Khan said the UNB reporters and correspondents have been empowered with smartphones so that they could promptly send photos and video stories from the spot.
“We need to cope with the evolving situation in the media landscape triggered by modern technology. We’re now living in a hyper-connected digital world, we don’t have any option but to embrace all the good changes to stay afloat in real-time journalism,” he added.
Khan also urged the UNB journalists to give greater focus on in-depth reporting on environment, climate change, poverty alleviation, infrastructural development, sustainable development, gender parity and good governance.
The workshop was divided into two segments—one conducted by Syed Zain Al-Mahmood, Wall Street Journal Correspondent and Adviser at the Cosmos Foundation, and another by Faisal Azim, a National Geographic award-winning travel photographer.
