Fire gutted around 22 shanties and 3 shops in two different incidents in Chittagong city yesterday morning and Tuesday night. The fire originated from electric short circuit and no casualty was reported in these incidents, said fire service sources.
In first incident, Mohammad Yahia, assistant director of Agrabad Fire Service Station, said “The fire broke out from short circuit in Fisheryghat area of the city at around 7:30 am yesterday. Five fire fighting units extinguished the fire after two hours of frantic efforts. At least 22 houses and valuables worth about Tk 4 lakh were gutted.” In another incident, Bishantar Barua, computer operator of Agrabad Fire Service Station said, “The fire broke out due to short circuit at a motor parts shop of Muradpur area at around 7:30 pm Tuesday.
