Security tightened in Barisal for Eid

The law enforcing agencies in Barisal city have undertaken strong security measures to ensure hassle-free shopping and peaceful celebration of Eid-ul-fitr.
Members of the law enforcing agencies have been put on high alert also to curb extortion, theft, mugging and pick pocketing.
Barisal Metropolitan Police has made 15 days’ Eid security arrangement to be in place from today till July 22 with deployment of 631 members of the law enforcing agencies.
The police personnel to remain in security duty round the clock include three deputy commissioners, one additional deputy commissioner, five assistant commissioners, 10 inspectors, 60 sub-inspectors, 66 assistant sub-inspectors, eight female sub-inspectors and 477 constables.  BMP will keep a total of 97 teams in the security duty.
These include 15 full patrol teams, four female police patrol teams, 22 mobile teams, three station security teams, four amusement point security team, one river petrol team, one sweeping team, one mobile court team, one racker team, 17 traffic management teams, three stand by teams, eight city SB teams, 10 Eid congregation  security and one monitoring team to ensure security for Eid.
More than 200 members of different other law enforcing agencies will be engaged in security duty with arms and metal detectors.  They will check and guard the main Eid prayer grounds and mosques, entrances and departure points of water and road transport terminals.
Besides, Armed Police Battalion members will be on patrol on the roads of the city and on its outskirts.
Eight patrol teams of RAB moving on the city roads day and night will to give safety and security to the Eid-passengers, businessmen and customers as well as the city dwellers who have left their houses vacant to celebrate Eid in other places with relatives.
Some of the special arrangements have already started functioning and will continue till opening of the offices after Eid vacation and return of the Eid passengers to their destinations, said Soyed Ahmed, deputy commissioner of the BMP headquarters.
