Info leaders to convey multidimensional development info, says minister

UNB

The entrepreneurs of 4,550 Union Digital Centres (UDCs) will convey the information about multidimensional development activities taking place in rural areas, said State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak yesterday, reports UNB.
“For this the government is providing training to 10,000 UDC entrepreneurs on writing reports and features for developing them as info leaders,” he told a workshop organised jointly by Trinomuler Tathyajanala Programme of ICT Division and Tathyaseba Barta Sangstha (TSB) on training of UDC entrepreneurs of Natore at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room. Presided over by Dr. Mohmmad Mehedi Hasan, the function was addressed, among others, by senior journalist Ajit Kumar sarkar and Deputy Commissioner Shahina Khatun.
Palak said the government has a plan to turn all the 4,550 UDCs as mini-business process outsourcing (BPO) Centers in the future. That is why the government has also been providing training to build the capacity of the UDC entrepreneurs on outsourcing and e-commerce so that they can run outsourcing and e-commerce business at the centres.
“Information is very important for development and empowerment of people. People will get empowered if they are provided with necessary information, including on agriculture, education and health,” he said.
After the training, he said, the info leaders will continuously provide information on local development, tradition and culture, agriculture, education, health and success stories to the people. The training is being held on writing reports and features.
Ajit Kumar Sarkar said the establishment of over 4500 UDCs has created an opportunity for people to get easy access to online services. Over 4.5 million people are getting services from the UDCs each month, he said adding that the info leaders would ensure free flow of information with the building of capacity to write reports and features.
