Mithali Raj’s unbeaten 49 and Panoom Yadav’s three-for gave India a brilliant start when they thrashed Bangladesh by 78 runs in the curtain raiser of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup at the Asian Institute of Technology Ground, Bangkok (neutral venue) yesterday.
Put in to bat first, India managed to put on 118 for six in 20 overs thanks to Mithali Raj (49)and Smrithi Manthana (41).
In its pursuits, Bangladesh were skittled out for paltry 54 with 10 balls to spare.
Mithali Raj stitched together 70-run with Smrithi Manthana for the opening stand, which laid a solid platform for the other batters, who added the rest 48 runs to set a 1118-run target for Bangladesh. Raj fell one run short of her fifty.
