Disconsolate Bulls lock horns with Dynamites

Sports Reporter

Dhaka Dynamites will lock horns with disconsolate Barisal Bulls in their second match of the third phase of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur at 1:00pm today.

Dynamites played seven matches already and they amassed eight points from four victories. The performance of the star-studded side had not up to the mark in the second phase in Chittagong, where they clinched only one match off their three encounters.
After the end of the second phase, Dhaka Dynamites are now languishing at third place just after table-topper Khulna Titans (12) and Rangpur Riders (10) though they finished the first phase on top with six points.
On the other hand, Barisal Bulls so far played eight matches, where they won six points from three wins and placed at sixth just above Comilla Victorians, who were crawling at the bottom place with just two points.
Following the humiliating four drubbing on the trot, Barisal Bulls’ back has been pushed to the wall. They didn’t get any win at Chittagong phase though they staged a good start in the first phase. Therefore, they also lost their first match of the third match to Khulna Titans by seven wickets.
Bulls had no formal scheduled practice session but some of the key players led by Mushfiqur Rahim and vice-captain Ryan Emrit, Shahriar Nafees, Al Amin, Taijul Islam, Shamsur Rahman appeared at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) yesterday. They poured their sweats by batting, bowling and fielding for a longer period.
After their practice session, left-arm spinner Taijul Islam said that they are thinking how they can do better to survive in the competition.
“We are not thinking about all the matches what we have ahead. Now we are thinking about match by match how can we do fare well,” said Taijul Islam, who grabbed so far eight wickets with the best figures of 3-18.
“Actually game means pressure. Every game has some pressure. Then it will not be right think to take so much pressure at this level. So, we’ try to do our best. In T20 matches, it needs no more times to come back. Hopefully better things will be done,” Islam told reporters.
The 24-year-old spinner said that they have a bunch of good players but luck does not work well for them.
“For T20 match, there is no need of playing better eight players. There is a possibility of winning a match if two or three more players could perform better. Mushfiq bhai and Nafees bhai were in form but they could not get runs or out mistakenly,” the Natore-born lad said.
“But other players, who are in the team, are also good especially David Malan, who helped the team win the match by batting well and Thisara Perera, who also helped. Now we are in back foot that’s bad luck. Luck does not work well,” he also said.
“We all have confidence. Actually the confidence level becomes a bit loose while a team starts doing a worse performance. But we are not too much nervous that we are not able to fight. We have that moral spirit and team spirit. Hopefully good thing is waiting for us ahead,” he added.
