Dhaka Dynamites skipper Shakib Al Hasan rates BPL-4 as the most competitive as its previous editions, stating that local players are performing the key role behind the team’s victory, where as foreigners keep supportive roles.
“The highest run-getters and wicket-takers are all from local stashes. That’s a very good sign. For this reason, this tournament is being more competitive,” said Shakib Al Hasan, who was mastermind behind today’s Dynamites 32-run victory.
All the local players are faring well. Those foreign players, who have come to play BPL, are trying to contribute to the team with local players. For this, the competition is being more amongst the teams,” Hasan told newsmen at post-match briefing.
Citing the names of some local players of his team, Shakib said that Mosaddek Hossain Saikat is the bright prospect not only for his team but also for Bangladesh cricket.
“Our local players are in runs. Maruf bhai is batting well. The opportunity Nasir got to play he successfully capitalised those all. Saikat is doing his stint properly,” the ace all-rounder said.
“Actually I have seen him batting from Abahani (Limited). He has the prospect of being a big player. I think he might be a good finisher. He can play big shots though he seems not to be a big hitter. Many batsmen of our country don’t do that,” the all-rounder also said.
“He has good brain. Actually he knows well when and how to bat. If he maintains all in right way then he will give much more for the Bangladesh cricket,” he added.
The 29-year-old all-rounder said that his one and only target is to play the final and then win the title of the T20 tournament.
“My first target is to play the final in this BPL and then try to be champions. I’ve no target except this. Car is not seen. There is no gain being man of the series if there is no car. Everyman has personal target but sometimes it does not seem too important at a level,” Magura-born Shakib said.
“Then it is important how much I could contribute for the team and its success. We still have chance of winning the trophy. We all try together to win the trophy. I have no personal target except winning the trophy,” he also said.
Man of the match Shakib said that there are some stronger sides but if they all could perform their own game it would then be tough to beat them.
“We have a bunch of good players. It would be tough to beat us if we all could play our own game. Of course, there are some good teams. Khulna are doing well. But I think Chittagong is now the best team. They have quality foreign players, who are specialised in T20. Rangpur has a good spin attack. The competition is being very competitive. Overall, this BPL is being more competitive than other three BPLs,” he thinks.
When asked about his personal performance in BPL, Shakib said that he feels better to contribute for the team’s success.
“I feel better to contribute for the team. I could not get too many scopes for batting but I got that chance to do. Earlier I got the opportunity in one or two matches but did not capitalise it. Today I got that chance and wicket was also supportive,” spinner-cum-batsman said.
