Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) officials seized 98 coronary stents worth around Tk 2 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport yesterday, reports UNB.
A stent is a tube or other device placed in the body to create a passage between two hollow spaces.
The most common use for coronary stents is in the coronary arteries.
Prior approval of the Directorate General of Drug Administration is mandatory for importing such equipment.
CIID Assistant Director Ummeh Nahida said the medical equipment were seized as those were brought without the approval of the directorate.
