Int’l conference on Analysis of Repeated Measures Data held at EWU
The Department of Applied Statistics of East West University (EWU) on Friday arranged a two-day long international conference on Analysis of Repeated Measures Data at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka, says a press release.
This conference was sponsored by the World Banks Higher Education and Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP).
The inaugural ceremony of the conference was held on Friday morning. The chief guest of the ceremony was Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grand Commission (UGC) Bangladesh. Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, EWU and Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank was the special guest. Professor Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, member, UGC Bangladesh and Dr Gauranga Chandra Mohanta,ndc, Project Director (HEQEP) were the guest of honour. Professor Dr M M Shahidul Hassan, Vice-chancellor of EWU, chaired the programme. Besides, M Ataharul Islam, Professor, Department of Applied Statistics, EWU, addressed welcome remarks on the occasion. More than 200 participants from USA, India, Nepal and Bangladesh took part in the conference. And around 80 articles were presented.
Jagadish Chandra’s birth, death anniversary observed at DU
The birth and death anniversary of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose was observed on Dhaka University (DU) campus in a befitting manner.
Marking the anniversary, DU Centre for Advanced Studies and Research in Biological Sciences (CASRBS) arranged a discussion meeting at Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury auditorium on the campus on FRiday, a DU press release said yesterday. DU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique addressed the function as the chief guest while Dean of Biological Science faculty Professor Dr Md Imdadul Hoque addressed as the special guest. Presided over by the Director of CASRBS Professor Dr Khondoker Moniruzzaman, Professor of Bose Institute in Kolkata Dr A N Lahiri Majumder and Emeritus Professor of Rajshahi University (RU) Dr Arun Kumar Basak addressed the programme as key speakers. Paying due respect to Jagadish Chandra Bose, DU VC said Bose has a great contribution in forwarding ahead the human civilisation.
“He tried to unite the all branches of sciences,” he added. Professor Arefin also said Bose was a foresighted renowned scientist, who invented such research equipments which are still now being used in scientific research. Later, the VC handed over honorary crest to Professor Dr A N Lahiri Majumder and Professor Dr Arun Kumar Basak on behalf of CASRBS, the release added.
