Rajshahi Kings captain Darren Sammy tipped every match is final for them to reach their first target, stating that they have to keep on improving and execute it in the ground to make it possible from their current state.
“Every game is important. If you look at the table and Rangpur are on the top of the table with 10 points. We are at the bottom. You know every game is like a final. It’s important to get point,” said Darren Sammy.
“We have the first goal is to make the play off. We could do that if we continue to improve in our execution in the field,” Sammy told at the post-match conference at the Media Block of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
“Tomorrow is our another day. This victory will definitely give us some confidence to going forward,” he added.
Praising their execution in both bowling and batting department, West Indian World T20 winning team captain said that they have to come back stronger to win tomorrow’s (Saturday) match against Khulna Titans.
“When you asked to bat we will look for anything about 150 plus and we got 162. So we are happy to bat. We have to go out and bowl well into the match. In the first six overs, we restricted them and got wickets as well that was very important,” the pace all-rounder said.
“I am really happy with the win. So, Tomorrow is the day we have to come back and come back stronger,” he also said.
Kings captain said that the big partnership and the utilization of powerplay brought us back in winning track.
“It’s always good to win cricket matches. You know the team is now on the bottom part of the table. So far there were problems in all the game’s chase. That was a great to put on the good total. We wanted to bowl first. But it was a good to win the toss,” the 31-year-old all-rounder said.
“We planned very well to this game. We scored 162. We just put our target. Our bowlers came us back especially in the powerplay. We have good enough bowls to bring breakthrough. In the end, Mohammad Sami’s two-over was good enough to make this match victory,” he also said.
“It’s a partnership. The last over gave us 22 that was a crucial. If we could improve when I think it was enough to get us victory. Cricket is all about our partnership and today our last wicket between myself and Umar (Akmal) for the last four overs. Then Mohammad Sami and Apu relieved the job for us,” he added.
