After a hiatus of two days, the fourth edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL)-T20 will resume today with the third phase matches at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS). The country’s ‘Home of Cricket’ once again got abuzz with the activities of all the franchisee teams as most of them appeared in Mirpur yesterday to have their training sessions. Table-topper Rangpur Riders will face-off Rajshahi Kings in the day’s first match at the Mirpur stadium at 1:30pm today. Barisal Bulls will take on Khulna Titans in second match, a day-night affair, at 6:15pm. Rangpur Riders currently dominate the league table with 10 points from six matches with a better run rate than their closest competitor--Khulna Titans—who, despites having equal 10 points, played a match more than the Riders. Dhaka Dynamites are placed in the third position at the league table with eight points from seven matches while Chittagong Vikings have found the fourth spot, thanks to a late hit at form. Chittagong now have eight points from eight outings. The team from the port city are likely to strengthen their side from the third phase with the inclusion of Chris Gayle. He is expected to join team today.
On the other hand, Barisal Bulls, who showed early promises, failed miserably in the last few matches as they suffered defeats in a row. They are now ranked fifth six points from seven matches. Rajshahi Kings kept their hopes alive for the coveted place in the top four with some late rallies and are now placed sixth with four points. Surprisingly, defending champions Comilla Victorians are languishing at the bottom of the table with only two points from seven matches.
