UNB

Bangladesh and Hungary are likely to sign four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s upcoming visit to Budapest, reports UNB. The Prime Minister is scheduled to fly to Hungary on Sunday morning on a three-day official visit at the invitation of Hungarian President Dr János Áder to join Budapest Water Summit 2016 (BWS) to be held from November 28 to 30 next. This is the first head of government-level bilateral visit between the two countries, said Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali at a press conference in Dhaka yesterday.  He said Bangladesh had a strong and friendly relation with Hungary after Bangladesh’s 1971 Liberation War that led to the signing of three deals between the two countries. But, the bilateral ties then got stagnant. With Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit, the minister hoped, the relations will get a boost. He said there is a possibility to sign four MoUs both at government and private levels during the visit. Those are MoU between the Foreign Ministries of Hungary and Bangladesh; MoU on Cooperation in the Field of Water Management between the two governments; MoU on Cooperation in the field of
Agriculture between the two countries; and MoU between the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry and the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Before the signing, the Bangladesh Prime Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with her Hungarian counterpart Viktor Mihály Orbán on November 29. Sheikh Hasina and Viktor Orbán will also jointly inaugurate Bangladesh Hungary Business Economic Forum in the Hungarian capital of Budapest. The trade volume between Bangladesh and Hungary is now US$ 16.24 million.
