Khulna Titans will lock horns with Barisal Bulls in day’s second match of the third phase at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) at 6:15pm in the capital today.
Both Titans and Bulls prepared themselves by honing their skills and techniques for the night-affair at the National Cricket Academy at afternoon session.
This will be their second encounter. Khulna Titans whacked past Barisal Bulls by 22 runs in their opening clash.
Both Titans and Bulls already played seven matches each. After the conclusion of the second slot, Khulna Titans are languishing at second on point table. The team notched up the identical 10 points like Rangpur Riders but the former placed second due to net run-rate.
Khulna Titans’ Pakistani pacer Junaid Khan said that they all are thinking positively so they could win the next match.
“We are very positive about the next match against Barisal Bulls. We are just thinking about victory. We lost our last match. But we still are hopeful and thinking positively to triumph the match,” said Junaid Khan.
“We have an excellent bowling combination that made up of Kevon Cooper, Mosharraf Hossain and me. Actually all the bowlers are making progress,” Khan told reporters yesterday.
“Mahmudullah is batting very well that’s a good sign for our team. Young players are faring well. Taibur Parvez is also doing well,” he added.
On the other hand, Barisal Bulls batsman Shahriar Nafees said that they want to begin this Dhaka phase with winning note.
“We could not do what we expected in Chittagong phase. Our first target is to bring the momentum back by winning tomorrow’s match,” said Shahriar Nafees, who smashed the third best total of 225 in BPL-4 after Mehedi Maruf (244) and Mushfiqur Rahim (236).
“We have discussed about our mistakes among us what we did in the past. Hopefully we will try our best to start third phase with victory not to repeat those mistakes what we did in Chittagong,” Nafees told newsmen after their training session.
The left-handed batsman said that he will try his best to play and contribute for the team’s victory.
“Cricket is a team game, where all have to perform together. But when a player of a team does well in bowling or batting his duty increases a lot. Personally I could not fare well in Chittagong. My best effort in Dhaka will be to try to contribute for the team’s success,” the 31-year-old said.
“The tournament has been reached at such a level, where the tight competition will be limited to top-ranked teams. Every team already played each other. So each team will get to know the strength and weakness of their opponent. T20 is a format of aggressive game, where you don’t get no more times. And so we will try our best not to repeat those mistakes what we did in the past. Along with that, we will try to bring Bulls back in winning mood,” the national discard also said.
