The cabinet yesterday sent back the draft ’Public Service Act 2016’ to the public administration ministry asking for further scrutiny and placing it before the next cabinet meeting. The public administration ministry had prepared the draft law and it was placed at the cabinet meeting for approval.
After the cabinet meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told the reporters that the cabinet had send back the draft law to the ministry concerned for further scrutiny. “The draft law will place before the cabinet after scrutinising it,” he said. According to the draft law, the anti-corruption commission (ACC) can arrest any government employee without prior permission from the government if a case is filed against a civil servant. The Cabinet also approved a draft of ‘Child Marriage Restraint Act, 2016’ keeping the minimum age of girls for marriage at 18. The cabinet secretary said the new law has been drafted in Bangla reorganizing the Child Marriage Restraint Act of 1929.
