Letters to the editor

Pubic interest paramount
Sir,
A newspaper correspondent's front page very important report about rotten wheat was published on of 5th. July, by a renowned local daily. It was the right and appropriate decision taken by the MP Abdur Rouf in overall public interest. He deserves our total appreciation and support. He was absolutely right to stop storing the rotten wheat imported in the food-grain godown that came from Brazil. Imagine our wise and so-called high responsible officials and the minister concerned, taking it as an easy matter. Even giving it free is not a correct and justified solution. The right and proper step is for punitive action against the supplier and the inspection agency, whose local agents or representatives should be severely punished. Even putting them behind bars will not be unjustified.
Further we should immediately take up the matter with the UN and the WHO, as it is a matter of national poisoning of the people by supplying rotten wheat mixed in the consignment, be it deliberately or otherwise. As a citizen we have the right to know what steps has been taken against the buyer's agents as well as the inspection agencies local personnel. Absence of any punitive and absence of any urgent follow-up and action clearly indicates that somewhere and in some possible manner, there is some illegal subjective interests involved.
This dirty matter needs a through investigation, without any favor to any one or any authority concerned in this life threatening matter. In contrast, it appears that the concerned state authorities, are taking the matter lightly, and not telling the voters what steps are being taken for punitive action. This needs a very high powered, capable inquiry team, who can go deep into it, without any fear or favor. Why is this not happening? Come next election, this will be a make or break issue, for the party in power.
