A leading Chinese company has expressed its keen interest to invest in the country’s health sector, which requires huge investment for developing health infrastructure and services, reports BSS.
A delegation of the Shinofarm International Cooperation met Health Minister Mohammed Nasim on Wednesday to discuss about the scope of such investment, according to a health ministry release. Shi Shengyi, vice general manager of the Shinofarm, led the delegation to the meeting, held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Shanghai, China.
Shinofarm is a concern of Beijing-based China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation.
The health minister suggested the delegation to explore investment opportunities in developing health infrastructure, including setting up of medical universities in Chittagong and Rajshahi. He invited the Chinese entrepreneurs to visit Bangladesh and make a presentation on their investment plan.
He said Bangladesh saw significant inflow of foreign investment to different sectors including health as the investment scope and environment improved notably in the recent time.
The minister was visiting China to attend the 9th Global Conference on Health Promotion. He is scheduled to return home Friday.
