DU Rokeya Hall Alumni Association reunion today
The fourth reunion of the Dhaka University (DU) Rokeya Hall Alumni Association will be held at the Teachers-Students Center (TSC) today.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Arefin Siddique will inaugurate the function at about 9am while Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury is expected to address the function as the chief guest, a press release said today. Besides, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki will attend the daylong function as the special guest.
Natl seminar on sustainable development held
A national seminar on Sustainable Development Goals: Challenges of Implementation in Bangladesh was held on Wednesday at North South University (NSU), says a press release.
The programme was held in joint collaboration with the Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) and Public Policy and Governance (PPG) Programme, NSU, under the Department of Political Science and Sociology.
The aim of the seminar was to stimulate the students of the Public Policy and Governance Programme to understand the transition from MDGs to SDGs and its internalisation to the national plan of Bangladesh and to highlight the implementation challenges. Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, distinguished fellow, CPD, presented the keynote paper titled 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: Process and Key Issues.
In the presentation, Dr Bhattacharya highlighted the key elements and features of the SDGs, its implementation challenges and institutional framework for SDGs implementation. Prof Mustafizur Rahman, executive director of CPD, made a introductory speech while Monirul Islam, deputy chief, General Economics Division (GED), Planning Commission, GoB; Mr. Asif Ibrahim, Former President, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI); among others, were present as discussants.
The business session was moderated by Prof Salahuddin M Aminuzzman, Adviser, Public Policy and Governance Program. Mr. Azim Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU spoke and shared his views with regard to quality education.
