Drive against illegal structures begins

The Rajdhahi Unnayan Kartipakkha (RAJUK) on Wednesday evicted several illegal structures at different parts of the city in an effort to discourage people not to construct structures that violate rules, reports BSS.
The authorities continued their drives against several illegal structures that included guest houses, hotels, bars and some other commercial entities deviated from their approved plans, said a press release.
It said mobile court magistrate Mohammad Nasir Uddin led the drive at road 27, Dhanmondi, fined Taka 200,000 and asked the private Difam Hospital to remove the additional floor they built illegally at its rooftop to accommodate nurses within next seven days.
The drive was also conducted at Cambridge Business and Law Academy at road 18 and a makeshift restaurant at road 5 in Dhanmondi. The restaurant was evicted fully, while the law academy has been given three days to relocate.
A separate team of Rajuk also conducted the drive at Senpara, Mipur, where the mobile court fined Taka 100,000 to Al Helal Hospital that has illegally built an oxygen plant at its basement and ordered to free the area within a week.
A number of furniture show rooms built over car parking areas were also demolished.
