The teachers and students Rajshahi University (RU) demonstrate on the campus yesterday to protest the persistent oppression and mass killing of Rohingya Muslim minorities in Myanmar.
Around 500 teachers and students demonstrate on Dhaka- Rajshai highway in front of university main gate around 11 am for an hour with placards and festoons and urged the United Nation and other global human rights bodies to increase pressure on Myanmar government to stop the mass killing and violence against the Rohingya people.
The programme was conducted by Abdul Aziz, a Philosophy department 4th year student while RU Sociology Department Chairman Prof Abdur Rahman Sidduque, Statistics department assistant teacher Kamruzzaman, RU unit Freedom Fighter Commander President Abul Kalam Azad addressed the programme, among others.
The demanded cancellation of Nobel Peace Prize conferred on the Myanmar leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, as she failed to play a tangible role in curbing the violence against the Rohingya people of Rakhine state.
Speakers demanded to allow international media and humanitarian aids, United Nations, western and regional leaders to take an active role in stopping persecution of Rohingya by Myanmar government.
