University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, for the first time, has decided to introduce ‘Bangabandhu Memorial Lecture’ every year in honour of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The Commission took the decision at its 145th Full Commission Meeting held yesterday at UGC auditorium with UGC Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan in the chair, says a press release.
The move has been taken to imbue the young generation with the sprit of secularism and Liberation War by taking lesions from the evenful life and works of all-time gretest Bengali Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in building Bangladesh. Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, vice-chancellor of Dhaka University, appreciated UGC for introducing ‘Bangabandhu Memorial Lecture’.
UGC members Prof Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Prof Dil Afroza Begum, Prof Md Akhtar Hossain, Prof M Shah Nowaz Ali, Md Ali Akbar, Vice-Chancellor, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Md Helal Uddin, additional secretary, Ministry of Education, Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, Additional Secretary (Finance Division), Ministry of Finance, Mr. Shamsul Alam, Director, Research Support and Publication Division, UGC, among others were present in the meeting.
