GAZIPUR:  President Abdul Hamid yesterday stressed the need for providing training to army personnel as it helps make them disciplined and enhance their professional knowledge, reports UNB.
“There’s no alternative to training in military life. Training makes people to be disciplined and helps enhance professional knowledge and increase loyalty. So, you’ll have to continue receiving training,” he said.
The president said this while addressing a parade at the sixth reunion of Army Ordnance Corps at Ordnance Centre and School at Rajendrapur Cantonment.
Mentioning that Ordnance Centre and School prepares smart army members for Ordnance Corps through various trainings, the president said the role of the training centre in turning a civilian youth into a soldier through hard training is praiseworthy.
“Ordnance Centre and School is a internationally recognised training institute where members of armed forces from friendly countries receive trainings every year,” he said adding that is why the training must be of international standard so that members of armed forces both at home and abroad give priority to receive training from there.
The members of the corps who have specialised training on ammunition and explosives are working as an indispensable part of army, Border Guard Bangladesh and Rapid Action Battalion in the operation to eliminate terrorism and militancy, said the president.
The members of the corps have made significant contributions towards increasing the production capacity of Bangladesh Ordnance Factories and Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory, he said.
The president inspected the parade of Artillery Corps and took salute. He also signed the Visitors’ Book kept there.
Earlier, Chief of Army Staff General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq received the President at the cantonment.
