World Conference on Internet concludes

The three-day Third World Conference on The Internet was closed in Wuzhen in east China’s Zhejiang province on November 18. An exposition of the conference named “Light of The Internet” attracted 310 exhibitors from around the world, and showcased the latest achievements in world internet development and technological innovation. The impact of Internet technologies on peoples’ day-to-day lives is growing exponentially.

Technology makes life more convenient. During the World Conference on the Internet, unmanned vehicles developed by Baidu debuted on open city roads, realizing automatic driving under complex road conditions.

According to Baidu, such unmanned vehicles have sensors built into their roofs. Together with a variety of radar and cameras, they have 3D perception within a radius of 120 meters. The “brain” of the vehicle, hidden in the trunk, can identify the locations and then categorize obstacles in real time. Using this analysis,  the cars plan the best routes.

Technology is making cities smarter as well. During the expo, Hangzhou’s “Brain of the city” attracted much attention. The system, using big data, is capable of easing traffic congestion, thus making the city a better place to live.

Using Aliyun ET artificial intelligence technology, the “brain”, jointly developed by the Hangzhou municipal government and 13 Chinese companies, can perform real-time analysis on the entire city, and automatically allocate public resources and realize artificial intelligence in urban governance.
