Eminent film and television actor Golam Habibur Rahman, who is popularly known as Modhu in the media, passed away. He breathed his last on Thursday midnight at the National Heart Institutes in the capital.
His son Bidyut said, “My father was suffering from stomach problems for the last couple of days. We took him to the hospital and he was admitted in a ward. He suffered a cardiac arrest after shifting to ICU and died at that moment.” He also sought everyone’s prayers for the departed soul of his father.
Hailing from Rajshahi, Modhu entered into the media as a theatre actor at the age of 16. In 1962, he started working in Bangladesh Betar and then, he began working in Bangladesh Television in 1969.
In his long career of an artiste, he acted in numerous television dramas. His noted tele-dramas include ‘Alaspur’ by Al-Hazen, ‘Korta Kahini’ by Aranya Anwar, Syed Shakil-directed ‘Mamlabaj’, ‘Batighar’ and telefilm ‘Phire Pawar Thikana’. Not only in tele-dramas, but also he played many important roles in the films. Habibur Rahman Modhu is best known for his notable big screen ventures such as ‘Kittonkhola’ (2000), ‘Chandranath’ (1984) and ‘Jinner Badshah’ (1989). He also worked in the film ‘Abichar’ as a co-artiste with Mithun Chakraborty and Syed Hasan Imam.
