Convocation of postgraduates on paediatric nutrition held
The convocation ceremony and workshop on ‘Post Graduate Programme on Paediatric Nutrition (PGPN)’ was held at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday, says a press release.
Nestlé Nutrition Institute (NNI), in collaboration with Boston University, organised the one-year certificate course engaging 4300 healthcare persons from around the world. A total of 300 paediatricians from Bangladesh took part in the course this year. The certificate distribution ceremony and workshop follows one-year course in pediatric nutrition.
Food Minister Advocate Md Qamrul Islam was chief guest while Prof Anayet Hossain, additional director general, Directorate General of Health Services, was the special guest. The event was chaired by Prof M Iqbal Arslan, dean, Faculty of Basic Science & Para Clinical Science, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
The objective of the course was to build capacity of paediatricians through giving them proper knowledge on science and nutrition. The programme was designed to provide updated, relevant, and practical knowledge in key aspects of paediatricians nutrition to participants through online presentations and discussion panels. The programme ended with a workshop and certification handover, wrapped in a convocation ceremony. The certificate recipients will become members of the PGPN alumni. Prof Syed Modasser Ali, chairman, Bangladesh Medical Research Council, Former Dean, Faculty of Postgraduate Medical Sciences & Research, Dhaka University, was the convocation speaker. Prof Maniruzzaman Bhuiyan, principal, Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College and Hospital and Professor Sunit C Singhi-Head, Department of Paediatrics, MM Institute of Medical Science and Research, India were present as guests of honor. In addition Prof Hamidur Rahman, vice- president, Bangladesh Paediatric Association and Dr Mahmood-uz-jahan, Director, Bangladesh Medical Research Council also attended the event.
