‘Criminal’ hurt in Jessore ‘gunfight’

A ‘criminal’ was injured during a ‘gunfight’ with police at New Town of the district town on Tuesday night. 

The injured was identified as Tariqul Islam, 32, of Bhekutia village in Sadar upazila.
Ilias Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said based on secret information that guns were being sold at the residence of Motaleb Sarder at New Town on Tuesday night, a team of police conducted a raid there. Later, a clash was ensued and Tariqul was caught in the line of fire and received bullet injuries. He was rushed to Jessore General Hospital.
Assistant Sub-inspector Shahabur Rahman was also injured during the operation, the OC said.
