Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive rescued a man from a primary school at Sonapur in Chhagalnaiya upazila of Feni early yesterday, nearly four hours after his alleged abduction by criminals. The victim is Mamin Hossain Patwari, 30, a resident of Purba Debpur village in the upazila.
The law enforcers also arrested six people identified as Abdul Ahad Rana, 22, Farid Hossain Tushar, 21, Alauddin Babu, 20, M Omar Faruk, 21, M Rezaul Hoque, 21, and M Shakil, 20, in this connection. The six abductors forcibly picked up Mamin from Sonapur while he was returning home from his workplace around 7:15pm, said Squadron Leader Shafayat Jamil Fahim, company commander of RAB-7, quoting the victim.
Later, the hoodlums called Mamin’s elder brother Mosharraf over phone and asked him to give Tk 15 lakh as ransom. On information, the elite force members conducted a drive in the area and arrested the six people. Later, based on their information, RAB members rescued Mamin from Sonapur Government Primary School yesterday afternoon. The arrestees were handed over to Feni Model Police Station and a case was filed, said OC of Feni Model Police Station Mahabub Morshed.
