Lightning kills two in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: Two persons, including a woman, were killed when a thunderbolt struck them at Chabbishnagar Bipur village in Godagari upazila on Monday night. The deceased were identified as Shahalal Miah, 26, a resident of the area, and his neighbour Adri Begum, 40. Local people said a streak of thunderbolt hit Shahalal Miah and Adri Begum while they were in their own home around 9:30pm, leaving them seriously injured. Later, they were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared them dead.
Body of woman recovered
GAZIPUR: Police recovered the body of a woman from her residence in Nagopara area of the city yesterday noon. The deceased was identified as Rozina, 22, wife of Ruhul Amin and worker of a local garment factory.
Ruhul Amin and Rozina used to live at Nazrul Islam’s house in Nagopara area of the city as tenants. Sub-inspector of Joydebpur Police Station, Faizur Rahman said being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body of a woman from the house around 12.30pm. Rozina might have been strangulated to death by her husband over family conflict on Monday night, the SI added.
5 shops fined Tk 50,000  
SYLHET: A mobile court here on Monday fined five businesses Tk 50,000 for selling adulterated food items in South Surma upazila yesterday. Sources said a mobile court, led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (Acting) Moniruzzamn, conducted the drive in the afternoon.  During the drive, the court fined the food producing company Fulkoli at Humayun Rashid Chowdhury Chattar Tk 13,000, Shaad at Kadamtali Tk 13,000, Roshmela Tk 1,600, a pharmacy Tk 3,000 and a grocery shop Tk 5,000. RAJSHAHI: Rapid of Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a youth with 500 yaba tablets and 22 grams of heroin in Halidagachhi village under Charghat Upazila yesterday. The arrested was Moni Islam, 21, of the same village.
On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a sudden raid in the area at around 5.30 am and arrested him with the contraband items along with a mobile phone set and Tk 3,000 in cash.
