The government will soon announce the National SME Policy with a view to enhancing the efficiency level of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to further bolster the country's economy, reports BSS.
"A time-befitting draft of the National SME Policy has already been prepared under the Integrated Support to Poverty and Inequality Reduction through Enterprises Development (INSPIRED) project," Industries Minister Amir Hussain Amu said while addressing the concluding ceremony of Bangladesh Inspired project here on Saturday.
Amu said the government has taken different initiatives under the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to produce green product for strengthening the country's position in international trade. "We must increase the use of modern technology to produce industrial product. Side by side, we will have to accelerate the support on creative innovation," he added.
The minister said Bangladesh has achieved remarkable success in various sectors including GDP growth and expressed the hope that Bangladesh will turn into a middle income country by 2018 and developed country by 2041.
"Bangladesh has achieved remarkable success in Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the country is going
forward to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," he added.
Senior Industries Secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan and European Union Ambassador to Bangladesh Pierre Mayaudon addressed the function. Project Director also Addition Secretary of Industries Ministry Sushen Chandra Das presided over the function.
