A man confessed before a court in Sylhet city yesterday that he had killed his six-month old daughter at Ghungadia village in Beanibazar upazila, reports UNB.
Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakila recorded the statement of Ujjal Ahmed, father of victim Tahiya, under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), said Apu Kumar Das Gupto, sub-inspector of Beanibazar police station.
In his statement, Ujjal told the court that his daughter Tahiya used to cry the whole night as she was sick and could not eat anything.
Being irritated by her continuous crying Ujjal picked her up and threw her into a pond early Friday when her mother was asleep. Informed by the villagers, police recovered the body from the pond in the morning.
Police also arrested the father and mother Rahima Begum for interrogation.
Later Rahima informed police about the murder on Saturday night.
Rahima also filed the case with the police station against Ujjal.
