A Chittagong court yesterday sentenced two persons to life term rigorous imprisonment and fined them with 50,000 Tk each for violating two children in two separate incidents.
The convicts --- Nasir Uddin, 40, of Chandanaish upazila and Azam Khan, 40, of Satkania upazila of Chittagong--- are now absconding.
Jesmina Akter , public prosecutor of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, confirming this to The Independent said, “Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal (1) Judge Md Rezaul Karim handed down the verdict.” According to the prosecution, Nasir raped a child, aged around 11, when she went to the jungle to help Nasir for collecting woods in Lalutia hill area of Chandanaish upazila on April 9, 1999.
