Rajshahi Kings brought up all-rounder James Franklin to bolster their line-up for the next challenge of the Chittagong phase that they will start against Chittagong Vikings.
The clash between two lower placing match will be held today at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) and it will begin at 1:30pm.
Vikings became subdued following their shocking humiliation one after another. They conceded fourth defeat off their five matches so far. They made a solid start beating defending champions Comilla Victorians in the tournament opener. Thereafter, the team led by Tamim Iqbal missed to maintain their momentum. They averted the bottom place because of the victory against Victorians.
Rajshahi Kings, on the other hand, made a surprised start upsetting the star-studded Dhaka Dynamites, who continued their winning spree at the second phase in Chittagong.. Therefore, Kings played two very close matches but could not avoid the inevitable despite being nail-biting affairs.
Kings captain Darren Sammy said regarding the match that they will concentrate on their strength and execution if they do it properly then they will be successful in their efforts not only tomorrow but also the next day’s games.
“It’s been good to practice here very well. We will play against the home team tomorrow. So, we are looking forward to it so that we have not lost any of the games. We are beaten ourselves. No team has defeated us. We do not play well in our situation and we all are whether if we just little bit focused on us and more careful on our decision making that would be made us ‘unruffled’ on the table,” said Darren Sammy.
“Obviously the crowds will be for them. We like to focus what we could do as a team. And if we do what we can as a team very well. We will be very competitive and will win cricket matches if we respect the opposition and make our plan accordingly. Hopefully tomorrow we could execute our plan against a good team,” Sammy told reporters before their pre-match day practice at the Chittagong Women’s Sports Complex.
All-rounder Sammy, who led West Indies to be World T20 champions in 2012 and 2016, said that he made better understanding among players and ready to deliver what is required for the team’s success.
“We’ve a good bunch of guys. Obviously it’ll take sometimes for me to get to know everybody. But locals have been good passing on the information the different batters and bowlers. But we now play three games and have been here for two weeks now. So, I’m pretty relaxed and understood the different bowlers in the dressing room. Now I know what is required,” the 32-year-old pacer-cum-batsman said.
He sorted out the loopholes behind the defeats in close matches, stating that their senior players could not play their responsibilities duly what they should have.
“I think if senior players played responsibilities, we did not loss the match by 20 more runs but it just three or four runs. As a batting group, whoever is in batting and set better to make sure we finished the games,” Jamaica-born Sammy said.
“Don’t leave it on anybody behind who is playing well. It’s our responsibility to take the team home and so far. You look at the last game it 11 or 10 runs to go I got out and put pressure on our guys who coming into the strikes and get the runs home,” he said.
