Comilla aim to play all out cricket to survive

Sports Reporter, Ctg

Reigning champions Comilla Victorians will embark on their second phase campaign in Chittagong against a spirited Rangpur Riders at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) 5:45pm today.

Victorians already played four matches, where they are yet to triumph any match. After such devastating situation in the first  phase, they are desperately searching a way out from it. Comilla skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza thinks that everything has not finished for them yet. If their players could stand tall and win the next match the scenario in the team might then be changed completely.
Forgetting the past results, the pace spearhead of Victorians said that they should focus on their games and have to play all-out cricket to survive their hopes of the tournament by posting a win.
“There is nothing to say. We have to try to play better cricket as nothing favoured us in the last few matches. I think we have nothing to lose. We have to fight in the ground. Let’s see what is happened,” said Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.
“Actually we didn’t go near winning any match. Our batting was not up to the mark. Even our bowling has not done better. Actually we are in such a position, from where we have nothing to lose.  So, we have to play the all-out cricket to survive in the competition race,” Mortaza told media after their pre-match day training session yesterday.
“But sometimes there is no pressure and even no expectation. In that sense, we can play without pressure and perform better. That might be better for us,” he also said at Chittagong Women’s Sports Complex yesterday.
The right-handed paceman said that they have no plan to include any new players and want to fight hard what they have in their disposal against their opponents of the competition.
“Life does not go at the same pace. It’s a new challenge for me. I don’t feel what I have left last year. It is the new phase of the tournament. So let’s see what is happened,” the 32-year-old pacer said.
“Actually there is nothing new for the experiment. Those who are in the team if those will not perform then it will not better result by bringing new one. It would be seemed something happened ‘new’ when old guys performed well,” he said.
He suggests team’s players to enjoy the game as much as possible and try to play their utmost best to win a match what is their ultimate target in Chittagong phase.
