Transplantaiton of Aman paddy begins

Transplantation of Aman (T-Aman) paddy has started in all the five upazilas of the district. Farmers are now busy preparing their land. The transplantation of paddy will continue up to the end of September (Bengali month of Bhadra). Block supervisers of every union parishad of the district are providing necessary support to the farmers. Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) has approved dealers for selling sold high quality seeds among the farmers. Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) and NGOs are providing short term loans to the growers. Sources at the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) said the target of T-Aman cultivation in the district has been set at 81,000 hectares of land and the production target fixed at  3,00,000 tonnes this year. Of which, Upshi variety  will  be cultivated on 61,000 hectares to produce 2,45,000 tonnes of paddy and the local variety on 20,000 hectares to produce 55,000 tonnes.
