CHITTAGONG: A special court here yesterday awarded life term imprisonment to a man for murdering his wife over a family feud in 1994, reports BSS.
The special tribunal Judge Mir Ruhul Amin delivered the judgment yesterday convicting Saber Ali, hailed Hillview Housing society under Panchliash thana in the city.
The court also fined him Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer one year more imprisonment.
The court acquitted Saber's second wife Monowara Begum and relative Zamal Hossain for not proved allegation against them. The prosecution story, in short is that the convict Saber along with his accomplices strangulated to death his wife Arju Begum, in an altercation over a second marriage of Saber at his residence on October 1 in 1994. Police recovered the body beside his residence at the same area on October 2 in 1994. Victim's father Nazir Hossain, filed a murder case with Panchliash thana on October 9 against three persons while police submitted charge-sheet on 22 April in 1995.
