Chairman of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Iqbal Mahmood yesterday urged the new generation to come forward to raise a united voice against corruption, a social menace that impedes the country’s development, reports UNB.
He came up with the call while addressing a contract signing ceremony held at the Commission’s head office in the capital.
The national anti-graft agency signed a memorandum of understating (MoU) with Bangladesh Scouts aiming to enhance its cooperation with scouts to strengthen corruption prevention activities across the country. ACC director general Dr Shamsul Arefin and Bangladesh Scouts executive director (in-charge) Arshadul Mukaddish signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides.
Iqbal Mahmood said the aim of the Commission and scouts is the same and that is why the ACC wants to get involved in the activities of Bangladesh Scouts. “We want to see that the next generation is groomed as good citizens while the Scouts exercise good practices to make them good human being,” he said. The ACC chief said the Commission wants to pass the message -‘corruption is not the right path at all as it destroys society, state and civilization as well - to the next generation who will lead the nation in the future.
“We can reach the message to the younger generation across the country though 15 lakh members of Bangladesh Scouts,” he added. ACC commissioners Dr Nasiruddin Ahmed and AFM Aminul Islam, Bangladesh Scouts chief national commissioner and senior secretary of Home Ministry Dr Md Mozammel Haque Khan, and ACC directors Mohammad Monir Chowdhury and Nur Mohammad were, among others, present on the occasion.
