The High Court yesterday rejected a plea from the family of much hated Abdul Monem Khan, governor of then East Pakistan who opposed the War of Liberation and allied with Pakistani junta in 1971, seeking a ban on city corporation drive to recover its land from their possession, reports BSS.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice Krishna Debnath passed the order following a plea submitted by Monem’s son AHM Kamruzzaman Khan.
Monem’s family had kept the land in front of plot-110 on Road-27 in Banani Residential Area, which is identified as Green Belt by Dhaka North City Corporation and Rajuk, under their occupation for long.
