4 DU students get scholarship
Four students of two departments of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded ‘Mustafizur Rahman Khan-Saleha Khanam Memorial Scholarship’ for securing the highest CGPA in MBA and MSS examinations of 2014.
Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed scholarships among the recipients of the two departments- Banking and Insurance & Women and Gender Studies - at a function at the vice-chancellor's lounge of the university.
DU Treasure Professor Md Kamal Uddin presided over the function while former Law Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed addressed it as special guest.
Social Sciences Faculty Dean Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed, Business Studies Faculty Dean Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, donor of the trust fund Professor Mahfuza Khanam, donor's son Barrister Mahbub Shafique and DU Acting Registrar Md Enamuzzaman were present on the occasion, among others.
The recipients of scholarships are- Md Khaled Bin Amir (Banking & Insurance), Monija Khatun (Banking and Insurance), Ali Ahsan Zonaed (Women and Gender Studies) and Rawshan E Fatima (Women and Gender Studies).
CUB, LIC Bangladesh sign MoU
Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) and LIC Bangladesh (Life Insurance Corporation of Bangladesh) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), says a press release.
Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat, founder and chairman, Board of Trustees of Canadian University of Bangladesh, and Arup Das Gupta, CEO and managing director, LIC Bangladesh (Life Insurance Corporation of Bangladesh) signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, FBCCI President Abdul Matlub Ahmad, member, Board of Trustees of Canadian University of Bangladesh Chowdhury Raheeb Safwan Sarafat and Vice-Chancellor, Canadian University of Bangladesh Prof William H Derrenger were also present on the occasion. The aim of the MoU is to provide CUB students with meaningful work experiences that complement their practice based academic programmes.
SAU observes National Agriculture Day
National Agriculture Day was observed at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) on Tuesday. The programme was organised by the Directorate of Students’ Affairs on behalf of university authority in collaboration with cultural organisations of SAU.
A procession marched on the campus and surrounding areas in a festive mood carrying with banner, festoon and placard showing the scenario of village farmers. Then a Seminar and Discussion on Agriculture Day was held at Wifi Zone.
Prof Kamal Uddin Ahamed, vice-chancellor of SAU, was the chief guest while Prof Md Sekender Ali, Pro-VC of SAU, and Prof Md Anwarul Haque Beg, Treasurer of SAU, were also present as the special guests. The seminar was chaired by Prof Md Mizanur Rahman, director of the Directorate of Students’ Affairs (Student Adviser) of SAU.
