Bank manager, 9 cops get bail

Gaibandha: A court yesterday granted interim bail to a bank manager and nine policemen in a case filed for assaulting three court staff at a branch of Sonali Bank in sadar upazila, reports UNB.
Gaibandha Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Mahsinul Haque passed the order when all the accused sought bail after surrendering before the court in the afternoon.
The accused are - Gaibandha branch Sonali Bank manager Ayesh Uddin, Officer-in-Charge of sadar police station Ahmed Rajiur Rahman, sub-inspector of DB police Rakib Hossain, assistant sub-inspector Ayub Hossain and constables Saddam, Shahinur, Saimon, Abdullah, Rafique and Bablu.
On July 5, a court issued a warrant for the arrest of the accused for assaulting three court staff at a branch of Sonali Bank sadar upazila on Thursday.
Three staff of Senior Judicial Magistrate Court - Komol Chowdhury, record keeper Mojammel Haque and cashier Kabir Mandal - on Thursday went to the principal branch of Sonali Bank in the district town with treasury invoice and salary cheques.
As there was a huge crowd of clients, bank manager Ayesh Uddin called police to control the situation. At one stage, 10 policemen, including sadar police OC Rajiur Rahman, started beating up the clients as per the bank managers order.
When the court staff and other customers protested the police action, the law enforcers turned angry and beat them
up further.
Later, police took Komol to the police station and beat him up again, leaving him injured. Injured Komol was then taken to a hospital.
On Sunday, Komol filed a case with the court against the policemen and the Sonali Bank manager.
