80 gold bars seized at Sylhet airport

Customs officials seized 80 gold bars, weighing 9.3kg, from a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at MAG Osmani Airport in Sylhet early yesterday.

Customs Assistant Commissioner Sazzad Hossain said the aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines landed at the airport from UAE yesterday. 
Tipped-off, a team of customs officials a drive recovered the 80 gold bars kept hidden under two seats, he added.
He said the gold bars, weighing 9.3kg, was the biggest haul of smuggled gold at the Osmani International Airport in Sylhet. 
None was arrested in this connection.
