Health Minister Mohammad Nasim yesterday asked his ministry’s officials concerned to strengthen its monitoring cell to ensure the attendance of physicians in their workplaces, reports UNB.
“Though the presence of physicians in their rural workplaces is being ensured in most cases, some physicians are still reluctant about doing so, which is not acceptable,” he told at a meeting at the secretariat, reports UNB.
The Health and Family Welfare Ministry organised the meeting at its conference room to review the hospital inspection reports of the last six months.
Nasim said departmental actions will be taken after review of the inspection reports against the doctors who were absent in their workplaces.
He said it is a matter of regret that hospital management quality is yet to be ensured. “Monitoring must be strengthened on attendance of physicians, repair of hospital structures and maintenance of medical equipment aiming to ensure quality healthcare to
people.”
The Health Minister said action will be taken against officials of ministry and divisions who will show negligence in hospital inspection. “Skilled inspectors will be recruited to strengthen hospital monitoring.”
State Minister for Health & Family Welfare Zahid Maleque, Health & Family Welfare secretary Syed Monjurul Islam, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services Deen Mohammad Nurul Haque and Director General of the Directorate General of Family Planning M Nur Hossain Talukder were, among others, present at the meeting.
