Stocks regained yesterday after witnessing fall in the previous three consecutive trading sessions. The rebound was attributed to the rally in the multinational companies (MNCs) and power sectors, reports BSS.
The broader price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), DSEX, recovered the three day’s fall by 38.52 points to close the session higher at 4565.24. The blue-chip DS30 also gained by 17.65 points to 1782.15 and the Shariah DSES rose by 9.72 points to 1120.28.
“After continual sell-off in the last few sessions, investors recovered some early losses as they showed buying appetite on fundamental stocks. Investors might have reacted positively to the Bangladesh economy outlook of HSBC,” said Lanka Bangla Securities Limited.
HSBC said in a report, as political tensions ease, it is time to focus on Bangladesh’s economic fundamentals and Bangladesh is best placed as compared to Vietnam and Sri Lanka.
All the major sectors ended higher at close when bank, cement, pharmaceuticals and mutual fund were the major advancing sectors. The top five gaining securities were FBFIF, NFML, Monno Ceramic, Standard Ceramic and KBPPWBIL.
The session saw a significant 196 securities finished higher against 65 losing issues as activities increased significantly. The day’s trade value rose by 14.67 per cent to Tk 485.42 crore while the volume increased by 9.36 per cent to 12.37 crore shares.
The major losers were Jute Spinning, EBLNBRMF, ICBEPMF1S1, Ismali Insurance and Ruplai Insurance when telecom was the lone lagging sector. BEXIMCO topped the turnover list followed by United Air, ACI, OAL, Beximco Pharma and GP.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) finished the day higher, with its general CSCX index recovering by 59.84 points to 8547.37.
Out of traded 248 issues, 150 gained, 64 declined and 34 remained unchanged. The day’s trade value was Tk 39.59 crore for 1.68 crore shares.
